Khazanah Appoints Charon As New Director

KUALA LUMPUR: Khazanah Nasional Bhd has appointed Datuk Charon Wardini Mokhzani (pic) as executive director, managing director’s office, effective Nov 6.

The Government investment arm said in a statement yesterday that Charon Wardini would join Khazanah from CIMB Group, where he was currently the group deputy chief executive officer (CEO), investment banking and CEO of CIMB Investment Bank Bhd.

Khazanah also conveyed its appreciation to Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, executive director, head of research and investment strategy, who left Khazanah on Sept 1 to assume the position of managing director of Prokhas Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned company of the Minister of Finance Inc. Nungsari had served in his role at Khazanah since February 2007.

In a separate statement, CIMB Group announced that Charon Wardini had resigned from the banking group effective Nov 4, 2013.

Charon Wardini joined CIMB Bhd as deputy chief executive, corporate and investment banking, in August 2004 and was appointed executive director, CIMB Investment Bank in May 2006, and CEO, CIMB Investment Bank in November 2011.

He had also served as chairman of CIMB Principal Asset Management, CIMB Wealth Advisors and CIMB Mapletree.

CIMB Group chief executive Datuk Seri Nazir Razak said Charon Wardini had successfully led and grown the group’s investment banking business over the last 10 years.

He had also kept CIMB at the top of its game in Asean and guided the franchise to its enviable position as the largest investment bank in Asia Pacific ex-Japan, Nazir added.

Nazir will assume the role of head of investment banking on a temporary basis. – Bernama
